NOTHING KNOWN except Norton Auction of Michigan auctioned off this park some years ago.

#7? (c/n 43436) was built for Frontierland, Cherokee, NC in the early 1960's. Frontierland later became the Magic Waters Fun Park (waterpark), and the train (engine, tender, either four or six coaches, 1.5 miles of track) was put up for auction by Norton auctions on October 1, 1986, but it did not sell. Dave Barnhardt believes he was involved in selling it later. I believe it is now #7 at the Old Hickory RR, Jackson, LA which was being restored and running on air in summer 1996. It may be under steam by now on up to 9 miles of museum trackage. In the picture on the old parktrains website (before moving to Yahoo), it appears that the engine is being retrofit with a much longer and more graceful sculpted wood pilot. ---
Note that Frontierland was not the same as Cherokee Wonderland which was nearby. Cherokee Wonderland operated in the early 1960's with three or four of Arthur LaSalle's restored engines which later went to Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio

Nothing known except in was 'up the road' from 'Ghost Town in the Sky' (in recent years) in the busy resort town of Cherokee.(Cherokee Indian Reservation)

Back in the 70's Ghost Town was really a fun little park. They actually had a Wild Mouse at one time. It's too bad the park has closed. I have many fond memories of going there and Frontierland (down the road), who also had a Wild Mouse back in the 60's. Maggie Valley, btw, is not in the middle of nowhere. It is a thriving tourist trap in the heart of Cherokee. The Harrah's casino is just a few miles away and the town of Asheville isn't that far either. I rode the Red Devil back in 1992. It was pretty fun, especially with the view of the mountains in the distance that heightened the experience. They also had a titled house which I always find amazingly fun. I rode by the park back in Nov. '03. It was dark but the big GHOST TOWN sign was still clearly visible from the road.

Another steamer was needed, so Rouse leased a small 2-6-0 from LaSalle that had been rebuilt two years earlier for the Cherokee Wonderland, a small scenic line at Cherokee, North Carolina. The Mogul, built by Davenport in 1910, had originally worked at the Levert-St. John sugar cane plantation of St. Martinville, Louisiana, as their No.3, the Albert. After it was retired and sold for scrap, Albert was purchased in 1959 by LaSalle and backdated to appear as a Civil War era locomotive for the Cherokee Wonderland. It proved too small for that operation, so in early 1963 it was sent to Cedar Point to alternate duties with the Maude L. Although initially leased to the CP&LE, the Albert was purchased by the railroad in 1964 and last ran around 1990. Right now it is a static display in Frontiertown (CEDAR POINT,OHIO).
