The surrounding 193 acre park has one soccer field with two overlay T-Ball fields, two football fields with two overlay softball fields, four basketball courts, an amphitheater, four picnic areas (one sheltered), horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court, a playground and tot lot, four lighted tennis courts, a tennis practice wall, walking trails, and a carousel.

Lee District Park also has an Allan - Herschell Company Carousel, made between 1945 and 1955. Its 20 cast-aluminum horses are arranged in two rows.

There WAS a Carousel here and a Miniature Train but I see no reference to it in 2012.

Antique Carousel To Open At Frying Pan Farm Park

May 6, 2011

A visit to Frying Pan Farm Park is already a wonderful adventure with barns to explore, animals to meet, a terrific playground and country store to name just a few of the attractions.

Now the farm is getting even better with an antique Allan Herschell carousel built during the depression era. The bright hand-painted horses are hand-carved and constructed out of wood and cast aluminum.

The carousel will open to the public on Sunday, May 15, 2011, and the public is invited to a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon, followed by an ice cream social!

The 20-horse antique carousel, built in 1918, has been a favorite for years, serving children at Lee District Park since 1975. The Fairfax County Park Authority features three similar carousels at other parks and a fully-accessible carousel at Clemyjontri Park in McLean.
